While the Philadelphia Phillies look to go deep into October, the New York Mets send their two top starters Johan Santana and John Maine into surgery. As the tale of two season continues for a second straight year, things continue to go right for the Phightin' Phils while the Miracless Mets injury woes continue into the offseason.
Santana underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair torn cartilage. Maine underwent surgery to have a lesion removed from behind his right shoulder. Both are expected to be fine for Spring training but their health will be two more questions added to the long list that Mets fans will have after their team completed their second consecutive epic collapse. 2008 was an even bigger collapse as the team blew not one but two chances to get to the post season.
Hopefully Johan and John can enjoy watching the Phillies win the world series from their sick beds. They will need their pain meds to mask their pain! So will the guy below!
